Introduction

French Pebble is a type of natural rounded pebble stone originating from ancient riverbeds or coastal deposits, shaped by long-term natural erosion and abrasion into smooth, rounded forms.
In industry, this is the commercial name for high-silica pebbles, characterized by high hardness and excellent abrasion resistance. They are mainly used as grinding media (as an alternative to ceramic or steel grinding balls) in ball mills.

3. Key Applications in Industry and Ceramics

• Ceramic Industry (Grinding Media)

• Used in ball mills (lined with ceramic or alumina bricks) for fine grinding of raw materials such as clay, frit glaze, feldspar, and oxides.
• Advantages:
  • Lower cost compared to synthetic alumina balls
  • Especially suitable for grinding processes where high SiO₂ content in the raw material is acceptable or required.

• Manufactured Sand & Concrete Production

• Pebbles can be crushed using crushers (e.g. cone crushers) to produce manufactured sand.
• Sand derived from pebbles has a rounded particle shape, making it suitable for high-quality concrete production.
